Maeve Harding

Sustainability Manager

Born and raised in rural Australia, FMG’s Sustainability Manager, Maeve Harding has a deeply personal and life-long connection with the Australian beef industry.

Working with her family on various properties across New South Wales from childhood, cultivated Maeve’s deep understanding of the value of agriculture to sustain communities, livelihoods and the environment, as well as knowledge of the livestock production systems that underpin our precious rural assets.

Maeve Harding - FMG Sustainability Manager

The importance of securing the longevity of farming and ensuring the prosperity of Australia’s rural communities is something Maeve intrinsically understands.

This passion fuelled her education at Charles Sturt University where she studied a Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management and is currently studying a Graduate Certificate of Agricultural Sustainability.

Her career in commercial and global agricultural was solidified through participation in the School of Agriculture and Wine Science (SAWS) International Exchange Program to China and competing in the Intercollegiate Meat Judging (ICMJ) Program.

Putting her knowledge to work for almost a decade, Maeve has maximised every opportunity on offer to continually develop her commercial acumen into both the domestic and export red meat supply chains.

From Mort & Co’s export registered cattle feedlot, “Gunnee” in North West NSW, where she was responsible for the daily operations of the feedlot, to an Australian-owned, dual-species abattoir, where she managed all export logistics operations as well as servicing the plant’s largest commercial account, Woolworths, before becoming involved in the parent company’s vast dry goods operations.

In 2018, Maeve returned to the red meat supply chain managing the Australasian Logistics & Operations for global red meat supplier, Consolidated Food Co.

For Maeve, the opportunity to reconnect with beef producers, packers, exporters and customers, both domestically and globally was a natural fit with her passion, skills and experience.

With her keen eye for detail, a mindset for continual improvement, and common-sense approach, combined with her strong agricultural background and a deep affinity for the land, Maeve has thrived in all aspects of agribusiness.

Of the challenges ahead for the red meat industry and her role as Sustainability Manager at FMG, Maeve said,

“FMG is well positioned to participate in the collaborative process towards a sustainable future for the beef industry and I’m so excited to be a part of that future.”
